Winter Blues

If you’re insanely happy that it’s Friday say HEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYY

This week was long. And today to top it off I attempted to learn something at my piano class that my brain understands, but my fingers not so much. Piano can be stressful y’all.

I found these jeans at Primark, here in the US we only have one (and it’s in Boston, WHAT!!) and I had to swallow my words when I found these black jeans. Why? I had said to a friend I could never find clothes that I liked at Primark, only accessories/stuff for your home. Then those jeans fit me perfectly, and if you are petite you know the struggle is real when it comes to pants.

This is my comfy-yet-put-together winter outfit for when it’s not freezing, which was the case during picture day. It’s been uncommonly warm here in Boston. I swear.

My theory is that if you have a nice jacket and lipstick you can kind of get away with wearing anything and it will look nice.

Have a nice freakin’ weekend everyone, you deserve it!

The Bachelor’s Fashion Part 2

This is the second post I am writing about The Bachelor (be happy if you don’t know what this is), most specifically about the clothes the girls participating in it wear!

Tonight is the “Hometown” episode, in which the last 4 girls standing take Ben to meet their families! Last week we saw some of Caila’s outfits, today we are looking at two of the other girls’ styles:  Lauren’s and Jojo’s.

Quick disclosure, Lauren B used to be my fave, Jojo is totally winning now. Anyone else is #TeamJojo?

Let’s start with Jojo then!

Joelle Jojo

Jojo has an easy-going, down to earth style, which perfectly matches her personality. More than once she wore sneakers and jeans during the episodes, and she kept it stylish by adding accessories or a nice lipstick. But this is the Bachelor, and life there would no be complete without glamorous party dresses. This red one above was Jojo’s first ever outfit on the show, AND GIRL KNOWS HOW TO BRING IT.

I even wondered if Jojo had a stylist pick out all of her outfits for the show, and she may have, BUT she is equally stylish in “real” life. The proof? Her Instagram! Her handle is @Joelle_fletcher, and here are some of her pics:

Also, Jojo post a hair tutorial video please!

Lauren B

Lauren is exactly how I’d picture a cool LA girl’s style. Evidence?

Again with jeans and sneakers! Maybe her and Ben HAD to match outfits here? A question for you to answer.

If Lauren wins I swear it has a lot to do with her first impression. The dress was beautiful, but it did not outshine her or her personality!

Her Instagram became one of my favorites too, she definitely has some #OOTDs and selfies here and there, but everything is balanced. Approved!

Her insta is @lauren_bushnell and here are some of her pics:

Good luck ladies !!

Have a good week everyone ❤

Life Lately

Life’s been moving at a nice pace lately, and to even find myself saying this is a nice surprise.

It seems as though every time we talk about time we say “oh it is flying by”, but honestly I’ve been able to enjoy my days and time seems to be running on my side (usually, not when I have to study, then never enough time).

Because this is my senior year in college I got to take some crazy fun classes, basically stuff that I’ve wanted to do for a long time: learning French, learning the history of Rock, aaaaand… learning how to play piano. I’d post a video here showing how much of a prodigy I am, except I’m still learning how to play “Catch a Falling Star”. Videos will come, promise.

Because of a minor accident I had to take a time out with working out, and found some fitness bloggers to follow in the meantime… Which got me thinking what is the relationship we have with the people we follow on Insta for inspiration. There are some people who have such an amazing voice on Instagram, including some bloggers from here like Cara and Swati Dixit from A Sip of Beauty.

Instagram has become a source of inspiration to me, but I always try and remind myself that what we put on there is a brand, not necessarily we know everyone’s histories because we’ve seen their pictures. Be the person a blogger or not.

This turned into a good reminder for me, online and offline: be kind to people. Act online as you would in real life.

All the love,

The Bachelor’s Fashion

Happy Monday everyone!

“How can a Monday be happy?” Because tonight there’s a new The Bachelor episode!!!

YES, such a guilty pleasure.

But I got into because I am competing in one of those bracket competitions (and winning, mind you) for the TV Show, and now I feel like I HAVE to watch to see if the girls that  I picked to be in the final four, and to eventually win, are doing well. To feel less guilty I try and study during commercial breaks. Is it working? Eeeeh … Kind of, my French could be progressing better.

The other day my doubt was: do these girls buy their own outfits or does the network provide them with clothes? I did some research, and a few sources say the girls actually bring clothes with them.

I thought it would be fun to see what these girls are wearing, and how they each try to make their outfit to stand out to get Ben’s heart.

Cue to Ben’s picture:

Now let’s go to my favorite outfits!!

Girl lives in Boston, so she already has some extra point with me, but her outfits are always cute.

I usually am not on the midi skirts team, but the way Caila styled this outfit won me over. It is a great date outfit isn’t it? Such an effortless look Caila, YOU GO GIRL. This landed her on my top four (and hopefully Ben’s too!).

Caila’s first night dress was cute, flirty, but honestly girl has much more of an edge than the dress was able to capture.

Becca is the blond one on the right. TELL ME THIS LBD ISN’T KILLING IT. Becca is just really good with style in general, this is her second (or third?) appearance on The Bachelor – and its franchises – and I swear everything she wears first perfectly. She is a bit more on the glam side, which I love, and has a modern and edgy take on how she dresses.

Also, this white dress above, so very people could pull off this type of flow and girly dress, but Becca does so and still keeps it from being too girly. I love white + lace if you’ve seen my other posts here and here .

I’ll keep on talking about the other’s girls styles next Monday, because I think Becca is not making after tonight’s episode. Bummer because I like her. But next week we’ll move on to Lauren B (The One for sure) and Amanda!

Have a fun week guys!

Let’s Talk

Living in Boston has its perks, winter snow storms are one of them. For pictures, because for anything else it doesn’t work as a perk, see: commute.

Winter Storm Day equals…

  • Curling my hair with Conair Infiniti Pro Curl (curls lasted through the storm pictures, so you know it’s real)
  • Catching up on French homework (Je me détends tous les Samedis)
  • Watching Fixer Upper with Chip and Jojo!
  • Making sure my ankle is 100% better, I’m finally back to working out y’all!
  • Taking some time to think of habits that I currently have but that may not be helping me get to where I want to be. We all have those, and battling them is exactly this: a battle. Eating better and stressing out less (with others and myself) are two of mine.

Boston keep being awesome ❤

Cafe Madeleine

What is the best way to start your day? Coffee.

What is the best way to spend your afternoon? At a coffee house.

I’m a big believer in both of these statements, and so today’s OOTD comes to you at one of the cutest coffee shops I have seen in Boston so far: Cafe Madeleine.

I was never big on wearing hats, but this floppy style makes me feel a cool-boho-chic-LA-girl kind of vibe (even though I live in a New England weather), so this winter me and my hat are really vibing.

I came back to Madeleine one of these days with a friend, and it has become one of my favorite spots already in Boston, but it is kind of tiny (which means no privacy), so my tour of coffee houses shall continue.

The black-maroon-white-gray color palette also has become my best friend this winter, and YES for finding maroon leggings. It’s not pants you say? It’s ok, still makes me happy.

Hope you are all having such an amazing week!

PS: If you’re in Boston, the tile floors at Madeleine are SO Insta worthy!
